2009年11月24日，以任洪斌副理事长为团长，张彦敏秘书长为副团长的中国机械工程学会代表团一行17人，赴台湾参加了第十二届海峡两岸机械工程技术交流会。为落实理事长关于学会工作要服务企业的指示，本次代表团成员主要以企业代表为主，他们既有来自中国机械工业集团公司下属科研院所的主要负责人和学术带头人，也有来自机械行业的民营企业代表。随着科技的不断进步，机械行业领域内各学科的交叉与融合现象越来越多，机械与生物制造，机械与电脑模拟、微纳制造等逐渐成为未来机械工程的发展方向。为了更好地研究机械工程的发展趋势，推动海峡两岸产学研结合，本次交流会的主题定为“机械工程与跨领域技术创新”，并征集了12篇报告。大陆方面，合肥通用技术研究院的陈学东院长、郑州磨料磨具磨削研究所的朱峰所长、苏州电加工机床研究所有限公司的叶军董事长、中国电器科学研究院的马坚院长以及宁波金凤焊割机械制造有限公司的李乃建副总经理等都做了精彩的学术报告；台湾方面，台北科技大学制造技术研究的杨哲化所长，台湾大学的郑荣和教授等也针对各自领域的进展做了详细的报告。其中陈学东院长关于“中国压力容器设计、制造与在役保障技术进展”、以及郑荣和教授关于“绿色运具与台湾的绿色机会”等报告引起了大家的强烈兴趣，并受到了大家的好评。 会上任洪斌副理事长代表我会与台湾机械工程学会互赠了礼物，并做了讲话。任洪斌副理事长在讲话中回顾了两岸机械工程交流的历史，高度评价了海峡两岸交流会对推动两岸机械行业的进步、增进两岸机械行业同仁的感情所起到的重要作用。任洪斌副理事长还对海峡两岸机械工程交流未来的发展提出了新的希望，他认为根据两岸工程学会在各自领域的影响力，我们应该进一步扩大海峡两岸工程技术交流会的影响力，更加贴近企业，为促进两岸产学研交流做出更大的贡献。 会上张彦敏秘书长和台湾机械工程学会林荣庆秘书长还针对2009年各自学会开展的各项活动以及自身发展的情况做了工作报告，与两岸机械行业同仁共享了学会的成果，并邀请大家参加未来学会的各项工作和活动。 代表团访台期间还参观了台湾大学、台北科技大学、新竹工业技术研究院、台湾引兴公司。 2009年12月1-2日，代表团还参加了由中国机械工业联合会和台湾机器产业同业公会共同举办的2009两岸精密机械产业合作及交流会议。本次会议共有四百多位海峡两岸机械行业同仁参加，其中大陆代表100多位。我会代表团的广州机械科学研究院的黄兴院长还做了一个技术报告，取得了很好的效果。 通过参加本次海峡两岸机械工程技术交流会，我们看到两岸机械行业的关系越来越密切，双方交流越来越频繁，在不久的将来我们一定可以看到两岸超越学术交流，大范围的展开产业交流与合作。2010年，第十三届海峡两岸机械工程技术交流会将由我会主办，我们一定要精心设计，尽量扩大会议的影响力，并争取推动两岸产业的实质性合作。
